Hi all, I am new to this forum and my name is Ryan. I am really interested in purchasing a standard fender strat and putting in a Duncan Hot-Rails pick-up in the bridge position and I was wondering if anyone has tried this because i would like to know if i would be able to get that "Maiden" tone from it. Thanks in advance.

Actually, I have put one of those pickups in the bridge position on one of my Strats. It actually got a little too much of the metal tone for me. I was just lookin' for a more Les Paul bridge lead tone. I left it in there for several years, though, so it wasn't too offensive, and I found it very useful for some songs. So it might just suit your needs.

If I were you I would just forget fender for a metal sound, I've played about 40 different high end fender guitars, even on a marshall half stack they dont sound all that great, the main reason is because they are made out of, in my oppinion cheaper toneless wood. just get an ibanez that is made out of mahogany, it will cost less and sound better.
