| I'm only a beginning guitar player, so the tone the fretsboard adds isn't really that important for me. Next month I'm going to buy my first electric guitar: a Fender Standard Lefthanded Strat with a maple fretboard. I think maple looks nicer than rosewood. |

| I know that this may seem childish, but I bought a Strat with a maple neck because I liked the way it made my fingers look when I was playing. Hey, I was only 13 at the time. |

| No, actually I'm 33. So that means that I've been playing about 23 years. I told you it was a stupid reason. That was when I, like many others, was into the whole Yngwie Malmsteen/Paul Gilbert thing. But as you progress as a musician you mature, and actually I've really started to dig Larry Carlton, especially his work with Steely Dan. And yes I still have that Strat, but I'm fortunate to also have a Les Paul and I'm always back and forth between the two. |
