Right I have been playing for around 4 years on my electro acoustic guitar. I have never had a lesson, however I am not an idiot on the guitar, I am capable of playing most tab music. However I am really stuggling to palm mute, or at least what I think it should sound like.
I assume it need to hook up my guitar to an amp to get the best effect! Also put some distortion on?
Also would some light guage strings help
Can someone talk me through the idea of palm mute. I have read it a few times on some sites, but it sound crap when i do it.
I am not a huge fan of blink-182 but I know palm muting pretty good. String gauge doesn't matter and yes it does sound better with an amp with or without distortion.
To palm mute you have to flatten your pick hand like a karate chop. then place this chop right in front of the bridge. the closer to the bridge the bassier the sound. once you palm mute, you position your note/chord and strum. It is kinda hard to do things like tremolo picking, etc. unless you practice alot.
