had one--nice for what it is.....why buy a fender to change to a gibson sound ??.....if the dimensions are the same for both pickups, there should be no reason why you couldn't....why not just buy the guitar that already has the sound you are looking for Question Cool

ahhhhh...makes sense..gibbys can get pricey....no Epi LP...but i absolutely love my Epi Riviera and its a keeper Exclamation --also once owned a Casino that was great--i've played a couple Epi LPs and they were reallly nice-especially at the price---unless you're really set on the big name brand, i wouldn't hesitate to own an Epi--the quality today is right up there with the rest---check out the recent articles in guitar player magazines...they've even gotten a couple "editors pick" awards..can't be that bad if a guitar mag likes 'em Exclamation Cool

Please! There have rarely been better Gibby bargains than the last few years. My last two IGBW provided gifts cost her hardly more than a grand combined!

Okay, I've been playing guitar for almost 17 years. I'm 20 years old (my father started when He was 10 & he was 30 when I was born...) I started playing an Egg Shell Off-White Fender Telecaster when I was 4 years old...& all my life I've never *Not* had a Fender (typically, I've had sevral guitars though...) like right now, there's 10 guitars in my house & the Majority of those are Fender, because my dad's such a Fender Addict If-you-will & typically the only thing *other* than fender that he's had at least since my older sister was born (who's 6 years older than me...) was a Veriaty of Gibson Les Paul...but since I was born, he's only had 2 Les Paul's (& I bought one of them for myself, & traded it to him for an original '69 James Burton Telecaster that he bought in a pawn shop for $250 that's worth like over $3k) & that was a New Single-Cut Melody Maker with 1 P-90 & that Axe has un-reasonable sustain, but the one that he had since I was a baby was a Les Paul "Recording Model"...& I don't think I've ever played or Heard a guitar that's Labeled any sort of Les Paul...that sounds LESS like a Les Paul...

Now, the '72 Telecaster Deluxe...in the Duchossoir Telecaster book, I Read/Saw that's the one that kinda looks like a Jaguar, or a Jazz Master...Right? the one with an Enlarged CBS Stratocaster Headstock & two silver Humbuckers in it.

To be absolusely honest with you, Fender (and Gibson) guitars have really worked their way into a place where they've become little more than an over-priced status symbols like a Porsche 911 Carrera or a Lamborghini Countach LP-500. now I've *still* got a lot of Fender guitars, but of the guitars I've ever had all my life, the ones that blay the ABSOLUTE BEST, are ones like my Jackson Soloist SL-1T with a 24 Fret Neck and 3 Dimarzio pickups (one humbucker in the bridge position & 2 single-coil's in front of that...) I usually run 9 guage strings on that vs. 13 guage strings on my Stratocaster for the Stevie Ray Vaughan-esc tone...

but my maturity has lead me to the following conclusions;
• Use a Jackson Soloist with a 24 Fret Neck, a Floyd Rose Bridge with a Locking Nut, Floating Bridge, & 13 guage strings will give you tone like Stevie Ray Vaughan, but 9 guage strings allow 9-Step bends...a couple of times before they brake
• It's cool to show people that you got really old guitar's & amps that are powered by vacume tubes & *Darn This Censor - I Should Have Just Written "Poo"*...but If you spend $250, you get a Beringer V-Ampire with moddeling effects & 2 12" Jensen speakers & that will sound like anything you want it to sound like.
• Chicks Dig scars that you got for crashing a Honda Del Sol (like a little smaller than a Mazda Miata...) at over 130 mph in a street race when you were 17
• Chicks dig a guy that can play guitar like they had one in the whomb with them before they were born - AS LONG AS You Don't Make Guitar your 1st Priority (I've lost like 3 Long-Term relationships that way)

but my final conclusion is to watch the Head-Cutting Duel at the End of the movie Crossroads & follow Steve Vai's example of shaking the guitar by the whammy bar in the middle of a Mind-Blowing solo because *THAT* (speaking from personal expirence) drives chicks crazy. & it's always good to have like a Jackson or an Ibanez or a Charvel or something with a floating/Locking Floyd Rose Tremelo because it'll return to pitch (stay in tune) after doing that...
