My granddaughter is interested in learning to play guitar (today) Very Happy She is 11 yrs old. Since i naturally want her to become famous and support me and my wife during our "home" years i want to get her a guitar. But, because she is 11 years old and a girl her mind could change at any minute. So, i'm looking at the Fender Squire Bullet as a not real expensive option as a first guitar. I'd be interested in your opinions. Does the Bullet have a passable neck. Since i will probably be ordered from Musicians Friend i won't have the luxury of playing the guitar before i buy and i want something that won't turn her off playing. She's my retirement plan after all Very Happy

My 8-year-old son is also very interested in playing guitar. So for his birthday, I found a Candy Apple Red Squier Mini Stratocaster with a hardtail bridge and a rosewood fretboard. He absolutely loves it and can't wait to learn to play it. The Mini is a 3/4 scale hardtail Strat, and its shorter scale is perfect for small hands. It feels and sounds great. In fact, I might keep it to learn slide on when he outgrows it. The Mini is the same price as the Bullet everyhere I've seen them, and for a young player, it might be easier to handle.

As with all Squiers, however, it's always better to try it out in the store instead of buying it sight unseen. Depending on where the guitar is made, the quality can vary greatly between two seemingly identical instruments.
