Pierre, are you looking to buy used or new? $800 gives you some really decent choices either way. Alot of folks will be happy to take your $800 so be careful and choose wisely.

I think Seagull makes a great guitar. If you are buying used I think Taylor might be a choice to consider... Too many variable here to let someone else choose. If you are inexperienced with guitars (spotting problems etc.) I think having an experienced friend along is very wise. In fact it's not a bad idea even if you are experienced.

Alverz Has some very nice guitars in that price range. Seagull Also has some very nice choices. You might want to check out a Tacoma or Cort Dealer also.

In this price range you are better to get something thats not a big name (gibson, guild, etc) Because they usually are overpriced. And the other companies (listed above and some others) make some increadible pieces.

But truthfully... Dont worry about the pice, or the name, go to several stores and try out a few guitars, plug them in, pick the one with the best electronics, and comfort to you.

I see used Guilds on Craigslist from time to time. If you can get a pre-Fender era one for that money, I think you'll be happy with it. I've had a semi-acoustic since it was new in 69. I'm trying to decide whether to let one of my kids inherit it when I go or be burried with it like Dimebag did with one of Eddie Van Halen's.
