Haven't been in here in a few days sorry Smile.. Got a New Epiphone on Friday a SG Special, traded my Epi Demon-Fx in for it.

Love the tonal quality of the guitar even with lots of distortion and the amp cranked. Easy to handle and play and it's so Light weight!

Only one thing I don't like is the Tuners and I plan on switching them out.

Anyone else have the SG or a SG model by Epi? How do you rate it? .. I would give it a 9 out of 10, only because I don't like the tuners.

Friend of mine came down tonight with his Stratocaster. He drinks heavily and broke a tuner on it the other night and busted a saddle out of the bridge or whatever it's called. Anyways he asked if I could fix it.

Gave it a look over, man it was trashed tuner was snapped off at the base, the tremolo whatever part (don't know the name) where the saddles sit was tweaked up out of the body and the E string saddle was torn out screw and spring gone.

I went up to the local music store and asked if I could dig in their parts bin, they said yes. I found another saddle and a Gotch tuner, I got it all for 3 bucks (*Holy Censor, Batman* cheap).

Now the Tuner wasn't a match to the others so.. Smile I got to ream out the hole and learned how to change tuners! So when I do my SG i'm doing it myself.. easy job. Also learned about how to put the Tremolo in, had to take it off to re-align it, and replace a saddle and set the springs for the tremolo.

Restrung the guitar and it plays as well as it did before his drunken stumble.

All in all happy with my first guitar repair Smile Oh yes, had to readjust the Truss rod also the neck got bowed, and I nailed that repair to.

I had the epi SG too. Great guitar, great value. I recently traded it in and bought a Gibson SG. A lot better than the epi, but you can't beat the epi's price! I'd give it a 9/10. The only problem my epi had was the switch was hard to move, but it was a great value.
