my sons got an epiphone pierced sg, with emg 81 and emg 85 active pickups. and the nut at the top of the fret board has broken at E string #6. what holds the nut on the neck? i need to get it fixed or try it myself. or would it be better to trust it to a professional, i have the ultimate set of tools.

You can try Frets.Com they have a section in there regarding the nut, however replacing it is the easy part, its the filling down that gets tricky the files are a certain width and you have to know exactly where to start to files so if you feel up to it, I say go for it whats it going to cost you nothing but your time, if it doesnt work, well most shop can do it for you very reasonably.Hope this helps.louis
